19 booked for illegally registering land belonging to Tamil Nadu’s Meenakshi temple

Madurai police registered a criminal case against nineteen individuals for alleged property fraud. Two former revenue officials and two sub-registrars were named in the FIR. The valuable endowment property belonged to the Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple. Temple authorities alleged illegal removal of title from revenue records in 2016. Further investigation into the fraudulent transactions is currently underway by the CCB.
