Five juvenile orangutans were discovered abandoned in a forest in Odisha’s Balasore district. Forest officials suspect a transoceanic trafficking network smuggled the young apes into India. Villagers alerted the forest department after spotting the orangutans dangling from tree branches. The animals were safely secured without the use of tranquilizers by forest personnel. A Wildlife Crime Control Bureau team is investigating the origin of these exotic animals.
