UK: Peterborough council denies sale of Hindu temple to mosque is ‘unlawful’

Peterborough city council argued its decision to sell a complex housing a Hindu temple was not unlawful. The council stated that while Hindu faith is protected, it does not dictate decisions. The Hindu community expressed disbelief at the council’s valuation of alternative premises. The council needs the money from the sale to the UK Islamic Mission. Bharat Hindu Samaj is seeking a judicial review to quash the council’s decision.
