State took land but didn’t pay compensation for 50 years; Andhra Pradesh HC orders payment

A 72-year-old woman will receive land compensation awarded nearly fifty years ago. The Andhra Pradesh high court found the money never reached the landowner, despite the award. The court directed authorities to pay the original amount with 12 percent annual interest. This payment must be made within two months, along with other benefits. The state had argued the acquisition was lawful and notices were sent.
