An independent autopsy report on 18-year-old Nolan Wells, who died after a July 4 boat trip to Horn Island, Mississippi, is expected Wednesday from family attorney Ben Crump at the NAACP National Convention in Chicago. The state’s own autopsy remains pending amid a toxicology review. Wells, the only Black member of a group of white friends on the trip, was the only one who didn’t return, fueling suspicion and calls for transparency from civil rights leaders including the Rev. Al Sharpton.
