Bihar family performs teen’s ‘last rites’ after she marries Dalit boyfriend

A family in Purnia performed a symbolic funeral for their 18-year-old daughter. She had eloped and married her boyfriend after a three-year relationship. Her father filed a missing complaint, fearing abduction by the young man. The daughter later admitted in court that she married voluntarily. The family declared her dead to them after the court appearance.
