Detectorists found 2,584 silver pennies; hoard later valued at £4.3 million

Recently, a noteworthy trove of Norman-era silver coins was obtained for the nation, worth £4.3 million, establishing it as the most significant treasure discovery in British history. This cache highlights the political turmoil that ensued post-Norman Conquest of England. Thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this historic treasure will be displayed nationwide and will eventually find its way back to Somerset.
