Mamata Banerjee-led TMC faction has unveiled a new symbol featuring the football player symbol allotted to it by the Election Commission for the October 6 bypolls. The move comes after the EC froze the party’s familiar name and flowers-and-grass symbol amid the internal dispute over control of the TMC. With the Supreme Court set to hear Banerjee’s challenge to the EC order, the faction is racing to familiarise voters with its new identity ahead of the polls.
