Blind sculptor from UP’s Basti crafts lifelike Ganesha, Durga idols by touch

Rampal, a talented visually impaired artist hailing from Basti, Uttar Pradesh, has passionately created over 700 intricate sculptures since age four, under his father’s mentorship in Kolkata. By skillfully employing his sense of touch, he brings to life stunning idols of deities like Durga and Ganesha, producing approximately 30–40 pieces annually and ensuring sustainable practices through eco-friendly materials, ultimately supporting his family’s wellbeing.
