The Kansas City Current launched a free youth soccer league in July to help children overcome financial barriers to sports. The program provides 120 players aged 8 to 10 with uniforms, Nike cleats and equipment at no cost. Supported by community partners, the initiative also offers coach stipends and referee training for teenagers. The league aims to expand access, support local families and encourage greater participation, particularly among girls.
