Why Allahabad HC had to suspend a mayor’s powers to get a corporator sworn in

Lucknow Mayor Sushma Kharkwal’s administrative and financial powers have been suspended by the Allahabad High Court for nearly five months of non-compliance. The court ordered the suspension until the Mayor administers the oath of office to a duly elected Samajwadi Party corporator, Lalit Kishore Tiwari, despite earlier directives.
