Abbott to pay $385M to settle US claims over infant formula plant

Abbott has agreed to pay nearly $385 million to resolve alleged false claims involving infant formula made at its Michigan facility. The settlement follows the company’s 2022 recall and plant closure amid contamination concerns. Abbott maintains that no distributed infant formula tested positive for Cronobacter and says government testing found no bacteria in unopened products.
