AIIMS Rishikesh held for wrong HIV positive diagnosis, told to pay Rs 60K compensation

AIIMS Rishikesh was found guilty of medical negligence by a consumer commission. The hospital incorrectly recorded a patient as HIV positive in its medical records. Subsequent tests at other hospitals found the patient to be HIV negative. The commission upheld a compensation of fifty thousand rupees and ten thousand rupees for costs. AIIMS Rishikesh failed to provide an adequate explanation for the erroneous diagnosis.
