Assam turnout nears record 86%, highest rise in Muslim-majority districts

Assam witnessed a record-breaking voter turnout of nearly 86% in the 2026 assembly polls, the highest in the state’s history. The Muslim belt saw the most significant increase in participation. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed confidence in an NDA victory, citing strong support from the Sanatani community.
