Bangladesh President likely to resign soon: Reports

Bangladesh President Mohammad Shahabuddin is expected to resign soon, according to political sources. This comes amid government discomfort and speculation about his continuation in office. Reports suggest the government is unhappy over alleged attempts to contact ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. Hasina, sentenced to death in absentia, plans to return to Bangladesh in December. Parliamentary Speaker Hafizuddin Ahmed will serve as interim president if Shahabuddin resigns.
