Centre’s fresh CAFE 3 brew seeks to ease life for car cos

New CAFE 3 norms, effective April 2027, aim to slash fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. Carmakers will earn credits for efficient vehicles, EVs, and hybrids, with “super credits” for zero-emission tech. A three-year compliance block and credit trading offer flexibility. CNG vehicles are projected to dominate the mix by 2031-32.
