Chicago’s vacant 32-acre site gets $127m housing redevelopment plan

The Chicago city council has recently granted approval for redevelopment plans at the LeClaire Courts site. The initial phase will feature two six-story buildings containing 183 apartments and a childcare facility, with approximately 90 percent of the units designated for low-income households. Set to begin construction in late 2026, this project aims to breathe new life into the area, fostering community and connectivity where it has long been absent.
