Congress: Government ignored Nicobar concerns

Congress has challenged the government’s Great Nicobar Project, asserting that local communities and environmentalists’ serious concerns remain unaddressed. Citing a former naval chief, the party questioned linking security with the development plan, which includes a township and tourist infrastructure. Congress also highlighted the Nicobarese community’s withdrawal of its No Objection Certificate, emphasizing the island’s unique ecosystem.
