Demis Hassabis warns of AI model that could ‘break the world,’ Satya Nadella replies

Google DeepMind CEO Demis Hassabis has called for a US-led AI watchdog with the power to test frontier models before release and coordinate an industry-wide slowdown if risks mount. Modelled on financial regulator FINRA, the industry-funded body drew quick backing from Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, who warned against any “one model drop that breaks the world,” plus Sam Altman, Mustafa Suleyman and Sundar Pichai.
