Direct tax collections rise sharply to Rs 8.11 lakh crore; non-corporate taxes lead

India’s direct tax collections have surged impressively, seeing an increase of over twenty-three percent. As of August 10, gross direct tax collections reached a staggering Rs 9.55 lakh crore. The bulk of these collections stemmed from non-corporate tax receipts, while both corporate tax collections and Securities Transaction Tax experienced notable year-on-year growth. Nevertheless, government-issued refunds only saw a slight uptick during this period.
