El Nino developing: Rainfall in India may see 11-year low in 2026

As India gears up for an uncharacteristically dry monsoon, the IMD’s forecast of just 90% of average rainfall is stirring concern, linked to the onset of El Nino. Starting June, 11 states will face heatwave advisories. Although Northeast India is expected to receive adequate rains, other areas, including Central, South Peninsular, and Northwest India, could struggle with insufficient moisture.
