Explained: Why ICC stripped Sri Lanka of 2027 Women’s CT hosting rights

The ICC has removed Sri Lanka’s hosting rights for the inaugural Women’s Champions Trophy in 2027 over government interference in Sri Lanka Cricket. The tournament will be moved elsewhere, with the venue yet to be decided. Sri Lanka could also miss out as hosts because they are ranked sixth. The ICC wants SLC to return to an elected administration.
