Giant pumpkin wins BC contest by just 1 pound after weighing 1,485 pounds

Kelowna grower Jordan Abbate won the 2026 B.C. Giant Pumpkin Contest with a 1,485-pound pumpkin, beating the runner-up by just one pound. The victory followed six months of daily care, including watering, pruning and soil preparation. The contest also saw two new B.C. records in other giant vegetable categories.
