Google AI CEO Demis Hassabis says ChatGPT did something in 2022 that can’t be undone

Demis Hassabis, CEO of Google DeepMind, says ChatGPT’s viral 2022 launch triggered a “ferocious commercial pressure race” that nobody—including OpenAI—was prepared for.
