Maharashtra now leads states in tax revenue after the Goods and Services Tax implementation. This growth is supported by high domestic consumption and a large services sector. State tax collections have strengthened significantly since the GST reform began. Tax buoyancy for twenty-six states improved substantially after the GST introduction. Technology adoption and a wider taxpayer base also boosted revenue collections.
