In 1932, Ohio worker lost his job and spent 12 years building a rock garden

Upon losing his job at the factory, Harry Hartman transformed his passion into a breathtaking folk art garden made from more than 250,000 stones and repurposed materials. For 53 years, his devoted wife Mary cared for this enchanting space until the Kohler Foundation restored it and handed it over to a community non-profit. The garden is now a beautiful destination for public tours, showcasing Harry’s visionary artistry.
