India expresses readiness for treaty talks with Canada, eyes Rs 4.65 lakh crore trade

The two ministers discussed ways to strengthen trade and investment ties and agreed on several areas of economic cooperation. “India expressed its readiness to initiate negotiations on a Bilateral Investment Treaty at the earliest,” the joint statement issued after the meeting said. A Bilateral Investment Treaty is an agreement between two countries designed to provide greater protection and certainty to investors from both sides.
