‘Long history of unlawful violence’: Global watchdogs condemn Pak’s crackdown in PoK

International oversight bodies are sounding the alarm over growing violence and restrictions on media freedom during elections. Amnesty International has documented harsh actions against protesters in PoK’s Rawalakot, and the Committee to Protect Journalists has identified worsening conditions for reporters. Alarmingly, two independent journalists are reportedly missing after being abducted from their office, with the protest movement accounting for more than eighty fatalities.
