MBBS admissions: NMC puts focus on ability, not disability

New National Medical Commission guidelines assess functional abilities for disabled students seeking MBBS admission. Medical boards will now evaluate candidates’ capabilities rather than just disability percentages. Enabling units will provide support and a barrier-free learning environment for these students. Reasonable accommodations and assistive devices will be considered before making admission decisions. Patient safety remains a key consideration while promoting inclusive medical education for all.
