Miami Beach’s historic Savoy Hotel could be demolished for 38-story tower

Plans have been submitted to demolish much of the historic Savoy Hotel to construct a new 38-story tower. This project will utilize Florida’s Live Local Act to overcome local zoning regulations and historic preservation concerns. The developer aims to retain a small section of the Savoy’s facade and lobby in a nod to history. Local officials and preservationists have expressed strong opposition due to potential loss of cultural heritage.
