Michigan’s $3.2bn Soo Locks project reaches halfway mark in final phase

Michigan’s Soo Locks project has achieved 50% completion and is on track for a 2030 finish. This $3.219 billion project began in 2020 and includes multiple construction phases. The final construction phase involves extensive work including cofferdam construction and demolition of the existing Sabin Lock. Crews are currently focused on concrete placement, with significant amounts already completed. This project is expected to enhance commercial navigation and support thousands of jobs.
