NYC banned Motoclick, now Mamdani targets Uber Eats, DoorDash over “hidden” tip buttons

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani says the city’s crackdown on Uber Eats and DoorDash tipping practices has delivered $104 million in extra tips to delivery workers since January. A new DCWP report shows tips per delivery doubled from $1.18 to $2.29 after apps were forced to show tip buttons at checkout. Mamdani, who earlier moved to shut down Motoclick, warns more enforcement is coming.
