Ohio protects 5,165 acres across 58 family farms from future development

Ohio has greenlit local sponsors to secure agricultural easements on 58 family-owned farms, aiming to safeguard farmland from non-agricultural development. Through the Local Agricultural Easement Purchase Program, farmers can keep cultivating their land while ensuring its preservation. Presently, more than 111,000 acres across 62 counties are safeguarded from development. With federal funding poised to enhance these efforts, local sponsors can apply for the 2027 program for further conservation.
