Open drain, broken barriers: Hazards on Delhi stretch where 20-yr-old, US student died

A 20-year-old student died after his car skidded and plunged into an open drain. The drain remained largely uncovered and lacked adequate safety barriers for public protection. Locals blamed civic authorities for alleged apathy and repeated unaddressed complaints about the hazard. The Delhi Development Authority stated a proposal for a box drain was under process. Traffic police deemed speed breakers unfeasible for accident prevention on Nangal Dewat Road.
