Ordinance to up SC judges from 33 to 37 promulgated

President promulgated ordinance to increase Supreme Court judges’ strength from 33 to 37, bringing the total to 38 including the CJI. This move aims to address the mounting pendency of over 90,000 cases before the apex court. The ordinance will be presented for replacement by a bill in the upcoming monsoon session.
