Post Office liable for Rs 6 lakh deposited through cheques despite agent fraud

The National Consumer Commission held the Post Office responsible for six lakh rupees. This amount was deposited by two complainants through cheques, not cash. The commission rejected the Post Office’s defense regarding a fraudulent agent’s actions. Lower consumer commissions had previously ordered the Post Office to pay the sum. The revision petition filed by the Post Office was ultimately dismissed by the commission.
