‘Rape-suicide’ rumour, arson, exams deferred: Key developments on LPU protests

Following unsettling rumors of a student’s alleged rape and suicide, Lovely Professional University witnessed violent protests. Officials quickly denied these claims, labeling them as false fabrications. In response, police launched an investigation, registering an FIR based on students’ outcry. For safety reasons, classes were suspended for ten days, and mid-term exams were postponed. Students were advised to either return home or remain in their hostels until calm is restored.
