In September 2026, a remarkable auction saw Jangarh Singh Shyam’s art reach the astonishing price of ₹18 crore, reigniting public fascination with his work. Hailing from Madhya Pradesh, Shyam pioneered a unique art form known as Jangarh Kalam, celebrating Gond cultural traditions. Despite experiencing struggles as an indigenous artist, he achieved global recognition before his tragic death by suicide in 2001 in Japan.
