Sabarimala temple case: Centre backs curbs on women’s entry, says 2018 verdict assumed ‘men superior’

The Centre has told the Supreme Court that the Sabarimala temple’s ban on women of menstruating age should be upheld, arguing the 2018 verdict was flawed. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta contended that religious practices aren’t solely about gender and cited diverse traditions. The court is examining how equality principles intersect with religious freedom.
