San Diego clears 60 tons of wildfire fuel from 750 acres at Mission Trails

In Mission Trails Regional Park, a significant vegetation removal project is underway, focusing on minimizing wildfire hazards and enhancing the recovery of native plants. So far, over 60 tons of invasive species and dried vegetation have been extracted. Supported by the San Diego River Conservancy, this multi-year restoration effort will extend through fall 2027, incorporating monitoring and the reintroduction of native seeds in the later phases.
