San Francisco university sells 170-year-old campus; 700-foot tower proposed

Golden Gate University has sold its longtime downtown San Francisco campus for $31.6 million after more than 170 years in the city. The seven-storey property could be demolished to make way for a proposed 46-storey tower, with developers considering either a 700-foot office building or a mixed-use project with offices and homes.
