University of Adelaide researchers have developed an electrochemical method to turn urea into hydrazine using electricity and sodium chloride. The process can use urea from human urine and wastewater and could offer a greener route to hydrazine, a chemical used in rocket fuels, pharmaceuticals and emerging energy technologies, including research linked to electric vehicle batteries.
