Surrogate refuses to terminate pregnancy after heart defect diagnosis, seeks custody

Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed revealed in court why they asked surrogate McKenna West to terminate their pregnancy after their unborn baby was diagnosed with hypoplastic left heart syndrome. West refused and later sought custody of newborn Rumi, who remains critically ill after undergoing the Norwood procedure. A Dallas judge has extended a temporary restraining order while considering the custody dispute.
