Uber layoffs: 3,300 jobs cut using two moves straight from Amazon’s playbook

Uber is laying off 3,300 employees, about 10% of its global workforce, as CEO Dara Khosrowshahi flattens management layers and tightens office rules. The restructuring copies two moves from Amazon CEO Andy Jassy’s playbook: raising the individual contributor to manager ratio, and pulling remote staff back to hubs. Unlike Amazon, Meta and Block, Khosrowshahi did not blame AI.
