UPI MDR will fund innovation, protect small merchants: NPCI’s Dilip Asbe

The introduction of merchant fees by UPI is a strategic move aimed at enhancing the sustainability and growth of the digital payments ecosystem. Notably, small merchants are exempted from these fees as long as their transactions do not exceed Rs 2,000, ensuring they remain protected. Meanwhile, larger merchants, who already incur fees for card payments, will find this transition familiar.
