US national stopped for satellite phone-like device in J&K, let off after checks

A US national, Jeffrey Scott, was briefly stopped at Srinagar airport with a satellite communication device. Authorities cleared him after determining he carried it as a navigational aid for trekking, unaware of India’s ban. He was allowed to depart after a background check revealed no malicious intent.
