International students in the US will face new rules from September 15, 2026. F-1 students will receive a fixed admission period based on their program length. This new admission period cannot exceed four years for most students. The departure period after program completion is reduced from sixty days to thirty days. Students needing more time must apply for an extension of stay with USCIS.
