Uttarakhand school collects money from students, builds ‘ghost temple’

A government school in Uttarakhand’s Kumaon hills is embroiled in controversy after constructing a ‘temple’ on campus. This was done to appease the spirit of a Nepali labourer, believed to have haunted the school for 30 years following an accidental death. The unusual construction, funded by the school community, followed unexplained incidents of girls falling unconscious.
