Voter card, Aadhaar, bank account, PAN not citizenship proof: Calcutta HC

Calcutta High Court stated voter cards and Aadhaar are not conclusive proof of Indian citizenship. The court refused to interfere in proceedings concerning a Murshidabad man held in a detention centre. Nasir and his cousin Suman Molla were given chances to prove his Indian citizenship by descent. Nasir could not provide a birth certificate or specify his parents’ burial locations.
