Acquitted of 2018 rape-murder of 3 year-old, man held for rape-murder of 76-year-old

A man acquitted of a child’s murder was arrested for allegedly raping and killing an elderly woman. Police identified Ramesh Vaidhukiya after scanning extensive CCTV footage along a 13-kilometer stretch. The 76-year-old woman’s body was discovered near Aji Dam on August 21. Vaidhukiya had previously faced a death sentence for a 2018 case. He was acquitted by the Gujarat High Court in February of this year.
